HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES.
PROSPECT OF REDUCTION
COUNTY COUNCIL'S CONCERN
An intimation that the whole question of heavy traffic licence fees and tho petrol tax was under consideration by the recently-constituted Transport Board was made by tho Hon. G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, at Papatoetoo yesterday, in answering a deputation headed by Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman of tho Manukau County Council.
Mr. Waters said his council was concerned at the reduction in heavy traffic licence fees and considered it would loso substantially under the petrol tax scheme. The Minister said the Transport Board proposed to hear evidence on that aspect and local bodies would have the opportunity of being heard. It was probable tho board would visit various centres to take such evidence. In tho meantime Mr. Forbes undertook to place the representations before the Minister of Transport.
