GOLD MEDAL FOR NURSE.

"WHANGAREI, Monday,
Tlie Whangarei Hospital Board to-day received an offer of £3825 through a firm of Auckland solicitors i'or tho Karoo Springs spa. A condition was that the offer was subject to the tenderers being able to obtain a hotel licence.
A farmers' train carrying about 300 farmers from the South Island will arrive in Whangarei on Saturday afternoon, June 22. They will stay the night in Whangarei, and go on to Russell next morning.
For the fifth time within seven years tho nurse gaining top marks for New Zealand in the State midwifery examinations is a WhaDgarci district hospital annex trainee. This year the nurse was Miss Joan Ilagen. The Hospital Board this morning decided to present her with a gold medal. Tho other four nurses front Whangarei were Sister Ruff and Nurses Bullcy, McDonald and Collier. On the motion of Sir. F. Higginson the board passed a resolution congratulating the staff lecturers on tho splendid results of their tuition.
