GLOVE CLEANING.
v SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE. I I Coloured gloves which are not washable may be dry-cleaned at home when not soiled enough for professional treatment. Mix together equal parts of fuller's earth and finely powdered alum, rub this powder well into the soiled parts with a clean rag, and leave for two hours. Then brush and shake the gloves well, apply warm bran or oatmeal, and again brush. Washablo gloves should be washed in ft warm lather on the hands. Rinse them well, in the case of chamois gloves using clean soapy rinsing water to keep the leather soft. The wire shape cat) be, pulled out or pushed in to fit various sizes of gloves or to hold out those which are inclined to shrink after washing. For white kid or suede gloves clean the same way, but using French chalk in place of the fuller's earth. When only the finger tips of white gloves are lightly soiled, put them on one at a time and rub with a perfectly clean soft white artists' indiarubber. As the rubber grows soiled rub it clean on fresh white blotting paper.
