LONG LIFE FOR FLOWERS.

WHAT TO DO. If flowers look tired tnd tumbled after a journoy by post, shako them very gently, one by one, and stand in warm water to revive them. Then cut off the Etalk-ends and put them back in tho water, which, by this time, will have become tepid, lie suro to cut tho ends of the stalks, not straight across, but slantwise. There are people, who believe in the addition of charcoal or a little soda or sugar to the water in which flowers are placed, but no good results from doing this. As to putting in an aspirinit may freshen the flowers for three or four hours, but they fall off and die all the sooner.

It is important to see that green leaves or petals that fall into tho water do not remain there, or the water will soon.be polluted. As for violets, if you cut off the ends of the stalks and drop tho bunches, just as they are, into a jug of cold water and leave them there for the night, all will look the next morning as if they had been freshly gathered.
