MOTOR REGISTRATION.
CONDEMNATION OF SYSTEM. "ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY." [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] NAPIER, Thursday. The present system of numbering motorcars by changing the plates each year was condemned as an absolute waste of money by a deputation which met the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, this morning. The deputation added that the inconvenience and annoyance caused to motorists by the system was not justified and the wisdom of adopting the English system of registration, which it was contended would givo greater satisfaction, was urged upon the Prime Minister. " There is a good deal to say on both sides," said Sir Joseph. "Recently the motor trade interests said it was their considered opinion that our present system Of registration was tho best in the world. 1 was against the present system myself, hut what thoso men said was an cyc-opener to me. However, tho whole matter will receive close scrutiny."
