SIR JOSEPH IN FAVOUR.;

[bx telegraph.—press association. ] NAPIER, Thursday. In reply to a deputation at Napier this morning the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, said ho would give the fullest consideration to representations requesting the enactment of legislation fixing a universal half-holiday, which he personally was in favour of, as he believed it to be the only solution of the difficulty. Sir Joseph Ward said he was prepared to ascertain the feeling of the House by introducing a bill on the matter. The matter had been before Parliament on other occasions, and all sides had put forward very strong arguments, and it seemed impossible to get any one day that would bo suitable to all interests.
