CHASE STEAMER IN LAUNCH.

Tho steamer Canadian Britisher left for Wellington yesterday afternoon without three members of the crew. Iho men wore riot on the wharf at sailing time and when they arrived there the vessel had left.
A launch was hired immediately by the local agents. ' With the three men on board the launch set out to catch the steamer, which was then steaming down the harbour. The chase was continued past North Head, but as it was then seen the steamer could not bo overtaken the effort was abandoned. The men will go to Wellington by train and join the steamer there.
