YACHT RACING.

CLOSING DAY INCIDENTS.

TWO BOATS DISQUALIFIED.

A special meeting of tho sailing committee of the Auckland Yacht and Motipr-Boat Association was held last evening to inquire into the fouling of the starting mark on closing da,y by the yacht Victory. Some discussion took place as to whether rule 27, stating that a yacht shall, be amenable to the rules from the signal given five minutes before the start, applied. The committee decided that this rule was applicable and that; on the evidence before it the Victory had established an overlap under rule 31—giving room at marks or obstruction to sea-room—and was consequently entitled to passage-way. In furtherance of this decision the committee disqualified lorangi for failing to give Victory searoom. . . , . .. The owner of lorangi made formal application for permission to a,ppeal against the decision to the Yacht Racin'g Association of Great Britain. In tho event of the appeal being proceeiod with it will be forwarded by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The owner of the keel yatch lona advised the sailing committee that he had failed to observe one of the fairway marks on closing day. The boat was accordingly disqualified, but the committee decided to write to the owner congratulating him on the very sporting spirit he had shown in the matter.
