SOUTHERN FARMERS' TOUR. SLOT TELEPHONE AT STATION. [BY TEI.KC n A PIT. —OWN- COJIK£SPONUENT. ] MORRINSVILLE, Thursday. At a meeting of the Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce the president, Mr. A. H. J. Wyatfc, suggested that Morrinsville be included in the itinerary of the party of Southern farmers who will visit the Waikato Winter Show by special train. It was decided to inform the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union that the chamber would gladly co-operate with the branch if the proposed visit was made.

Regarding a request for the installa- ! tion of a clock at the entrance to the Morrinsvillo post office, Mr. Cameron, postmaster, said the provision of a clock was not a matter for the post office, but for tho municipal authorities. Strong objection was made to an offer from the Hon. J. B. Donald, PostmasterGeneral, to provide a 3d slot telephone at tho railway station, instead of the usual penny-in-tho-slot type of machine. Mr. F. Lye, M.F., said that notwithstanding that previous offers of the chamber had been definitely turned down, ho had approached the Postmaster-General, and had obtained a definite assurance that the desired facility would bo provided The Minister had promised to review the position from time to time and intimated that an alteration would bo made to id charge whenever tho revenue received warranted this. It was resolved to inform tho Minister that the chamber was strongly of the opinion that a telephone was warranted at the station, and that the charge should not be more than Id.
