Some idea of the enormous expense in- j volved in securing titles to sections h abandoned by Maori War soldiers at Pirongia was given by Mr. T. C. Grace, « president of the Pirongia Progressive ( League, when addressing the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W- Forbes, at >. Pirongia yesterday. ... It was necessary, said Mr. Grace, that - the one-acre sections in the town that * had been allotted to settlers and r abandoned should be consolidated into larger areas. In one case the legal ex- * peuses on one mortgage of £3OO at Pirongia had amounted to £B7.
