HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.

COUNCIL MEETING

A meeting of (lie council of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was held on "Wednesday in flic hospilnl board room. Mrs. Alfred Kidd, president, was in (lie chair. A vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Miss Payne, all members standing. Mr. Wallace, chairman of the hospital board, gave a very interesting address on wireless in the hospital. Ho spoke first of the great, work that had been done in this connection by Mrs. Drcaver, who is now joining with the Auckland Hospital i Auxiliary to carry on this work, which has grown to such an extent that it is too much for one person to handle. Mr. j Wallace also spoke of thu great pleasure ! wireless has given to the patients where it has been installed, and hoped that, in due time all the wards would bo supplied with it. The Wellington Hospital, it was stated, had the wireless installed right, through the buildings., and Auckland if was felt should not be far behind. The engineer at the hospital had offered to do all he could to help, and Mr. Gage, the Post and Telegraph wireless expert, had offered to give the auxiliary the benefit, of his wide experience. The Auckland Hospital Auxiliary hoped to enlist the sympathy of fhc> public in a work that should appeal to everybody. Mr. Wallace was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address. On introducing him to the meeting, Mrs. Kidd, on behalf of the members, congratulated Mr. Wallace- on his re-election to ofhee. Congratulations wero also offered to Mrs. Campbell and to .Mrs. Kidd. Reports were received from Hie different committees and branches. r l ho donations for the month totalled 318 garments, including those made by the City Sewing Circle, the Mount Branch, the Te Afatu Women's Institute, the Birkdale Women's Institute, Mrs. King, and Mrs. Rehague, also numerous private donors. Jam and vegetables were, brought in by different/ members, and Mrs. Freeman, of Swanson, kindly donated another seven sugar bags of eating apples, which were distributed to the. wards. The garments jlistribufed for the month totalled 180; 37 families were helped with clothing, and 32 families with grocery and meat orders. It was decided to hoid a public meeting iu the Town Hall next month, at which reports of the last 'quarter's activities would be read and interesting addresses given. Correspondence was read and received. and accounts were passed for payment.
