THIRTY DAYS IN GAOL.
INTOXICATED MOTORIST. CANCELLATION OF LICENCE. [B3T TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday A sentence of 30 days' imprisonment was imposed in the Rangiora Magistrate's Court this morning by Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., on Frank George Gibbs, a local contractor, on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car on tho Drain Road, Flaxton. Accused did not appear.
Tho evidence showed that Gibbs was discovered, asleep in the car with several bottles oi: liquor at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday.
The magistrate said that the drunken motorist could not be tolerated. Accused was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment, his driving licence was cancelled, and ho was prohibited from holding a licence for two years. On a further charge of breaking his prohibition order he was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
