EXECUTIONS DELAYED.
MEN IN SHANGHAI PRISON. PLOT TO ESCAPE HATCHED. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. SHANGHAI, April 30. Tho inquest concerning tho deaths of two Indian warders, who were killed while resisting a recent attempt to escape, made by Chinese who had been condemned 'to death, elicited evidence that 59 men were under sentence of death.
Somo of them had been awaiting confirmation of the sentence by the Nanking Government for tnoro than a year. One condemned man said tho plot to escape was evolved because tho prisoners were tired of waiting to die. They expected to be shot, in thoir attempted escape.
