KEEN DEMAND PREVAILS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. "Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd.. and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the .Tohnaonville sale held to-day as follows:—To the usual attendance o£ butchers we submitted a large yarding of sheep, lambs and cattle. The Quality of the yarding for all classes of stock wa3 good. The cattle offered comprised mostly heavyweight prime bullocks, with a fiaw penß of lighter cattle. Heifers - were light and of average quality. Owing to butchers' stocks being short a keen sale resulted and prices generally were on a par with last week's rates. Wethers and ewe 3 met with a good sale at last week's parity and lambs were keenly Bought at prices showing a slight advance. Quotations:—Cattle: Bullocks, £l2 10s to £l4 17s 6d; heavy bullocks, £ls to £ls 10s; light heifers and cows. £9 7s 6d to £9 15s: vealers, £2 Is to £4 lis. ttheep: Wethers. 32s 6d to 34s 6d; ewes, 26s to 27s 6d; lambs, 21s to 24s 6d. There were average entries at to-day's Aldington market and there was a good sale in all sections of sheep, with fat cattle a little easier. Store Sheep.—Good ewe lambs brought 26s to 27s 6d; medium ewe lambs, 23s 6d to 25s Cd; ordinary ewe lambs, 21s to 22s 6d; ordinary wether lambs. 18s to 20s Gc't: inferior wether lambs, 16s to 17s 6d; cull lambs, 123 to 14s; good mixed sort lambs, 223 3d to 245; medium mixed sort lambs. 19s 6d to 21s 6d; good two-tooth threequarterbred ewes, to 35s 6d; good four and six-tooth half bred ewes, to 365; medium four, six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes. 28s to 30s; ordinary four, six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes, 25s 6d to 27s 6d; soundmouthed halfbred ewes, 23s to 255; failingmouthed halfbred ewes. 20s to 225: aged and inferior halfbred ewes, to 12s 6d; extra good halfbred wethers, 2Ss Gd to 31s; good halfbred wethers, 26s to 28s; ordinary halfbred wethers, 223 to 245. Fat Lambs.—There was a small entry of 1175 head and a free sale. Extra prime heavy made to 34s 7d: prime. 29a Cd to 32s 6d; medium, 27s 3d to 29s 3d: light. 25s 3d to 275; store, 23a 9d to 265.

Fat Sheep.—With an average entry of 30 races there was a good sale, export rates being fully maintained. Extra prime wethers brought to 38a lOd: prime wethers, 32s Gd to 35s Cd; medium wethers. 29s Gd to 325: light wethers, 25s Gd to 295; extra prime ewes, to 33s lOd; prime ewes, 25s 6d to 295; medium ewes, 22s 6d to 255; light ewes. 19s to 225; aged ewes, 15s to 18s. Fat Cattle.—A heavy entry of 550 head included a North Island consignment of 58 head of moderate quality. The class of entry generally was below the standard and values were up to 20s a head lower than last, week. Good steer beef made from 41s to 44s per 1001b; extra good, to 4i3s. medium /luality, 38s to 40s; heavy, 37s Gd to 41s; good heifer, 40s to 42s 6d; good cowv 34s to 3Ss; and plain down tfi 30s; prime heavy steers. £l7 to £l9 17s' (id: medium weight prime steers, £ls to £l6 15s; medium quality steers, £ll 10s to £l4 10s; light steers, £7 15s to £ll ss; extra prime heifers, to £l6 17s Gd; prime heifers. £ll 5s to £l3 10s; medium heifers. £9 10s to £11; light heifers, £7 5s to £9 ss; .extra prime cows, to £l4 7s Gd; prime cows, £lO 10s to £l2 15s; medium cows. £9 to £lO ss; aged cows, £5 7s Gd to £8 10s. Vealers,—There was a good sale. Best 12 to 18-months brought to £lO 8s 6d: good vealers, £6 to £7 10s; others, £4 to £5 15s; calves, 30s to 40s. Store Cattle.—A good demand was ex perienced. A line of three to four-year steers made ill to £ll 10s; cows, up to £6 10s; bulls, to £lB. Dairy Cattle.—There was a small entry, with improved prices. Best springing cows made to £l7' 10s; medium. £l2 to £l4 10s; others, £9 tc- £ll 10s ; best springing heifers, to £l2 10s; medium. £9 to £lO 10s; others. £G 10s to £B.

Fat Pigs.—There was a good sale for both porkers . and baconers, prices being better - than last week. Choppers made 30a to £G Ts; light baconei'R, £2 17s Gd to £3 10s; heavy baconers, £3 15s to £4 6s Gd (average price per lb. 5d to Gjd); light porkers. 33s to 425; heavy porkers. 45s to 55s (average price per lb, 7d'.to 7-5 d).. Store Pigs.—A medium entry met with a satisfactory sale; weaners .made. 5s to 7s; extra to 10s; small stores, 9s to lis; medium, 15s to 225; large, 24s to 30s; extra, to 425.

CLEARING SALE AT WALTON. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held on Wednesday a clearing sale on account of Mr, J. M. Colville, of Walton, When a herd of 74 cows, chiefly Jersey and Jerseycross was offered. A total clearance was effected. Quotations;— Jersey and Jerseycross cows, second, third and fourth calvers, due July, and August, best quality, £ll to £l3 10s; due September and October. £8 10s to £10: Shorthorn and Friesian cows, due July and August, £G 15s to £9 10s; late calvers. £4 10s to £G 10s; Jersey and Jerseycross heifers, in calf, £9 to' £lO ;SS; more backward sorts, £6 10s to £8 7s Gd; Jensey heifer calves, £4; Shorthorn heifer calves. £3 12s Gd.

POWER BOARD DEBENTURES. REASON FOR PURCHASE. It has been stated that the Public Trust Offico is taking £20,000 of the Auckland Power Board debentures, bearing interest at per cent. The funds invested in theso or similar debentures are not the funds Of the Public Trust Office, but the debentures in question are being taken by the Public Trustee ispecially on behalf of clients of the office.
