PROGRESS AT TE AROHA. ATTITUDE TOWARD BISHOP. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE Alt Oil A, Wednesday. The annual meeting of St. Mark's parishioners took place in the parish hall, Tc Aroha, last evening. There was a good attendance. In reviewing the year the Rev. W. Connolly said it had been a year of great progress and they could now show a balance-sheet with a credit. Nine years ago the committee had £IOO in hand [or tho new memorial church and the necessary £4300 seemed a long way off, yet with the assistance of two generous legacies and the ladies' guild the church stood as a monument to their efforts. There had been an all-round increase in communicants during the year. The funds had been enriched by a legacy from the estate of Mrs. E. F. Chudleigh, £l5B of which had been used reducing the new church debt.
The election of members of the vestry and church officers resulted Vicar's warden, Mr. Bruce; people's warden, Mr. Hinton; vestrymen, Messrs. F. Strange, G. Gilchrist, J. Heathcote, F. Halligan, T. A. Ilines, O. M. Samuel, 11. Todd, H. F. Wilcox, G. Cornish, A. Andrew; auditor, Mr. Gilchrist, sen.; svnodsmen, Messrs. Bruce and Strange; rural deaconry board members, Messrs. 0. M. Samuel, 11. Todd and A. Andrew.
On the question of instituting an endowment fund the meeting passed a resolution to the incoming vestry that such a fund be started with the present surplus. With regard to the present synod delegates and their views, Mr. F. M. Strange outlined tho present relations existing at Hamilton between bishop and laity, lie pointed out that tho policy of the two delegates from To Aroha had been that in the interests of . the diocese the present bishop should resign from his oifice. In reappointing the delegates the meeting expressed the utmost confidence in them. ST. GEORGE'S;, EPSOM. MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. Tho annual meeting of the parishioners of St. George's. Church, Epsom, was held this week. The balance-sheet showed an income of £1147, tho collections and other sources of revenue being considerably more than last year's amounts. The balance in the general account was £L6. A sum of £3OO had been paid off the vicarage mortgage, while the organ fund stood at £340. The vicar, the Rev. J, L. Litt, reported a considerable increase in the number of church workers, particularly in tho Sunday school and choir. It was announced that a parochial mission would he held during August, the Rev. F. G. Harvie, vicar of Stanley Bay, being tho missioncr. The following officers were elected:—• Vicar's warden. Mr. Preston Chambers; people's warden, Mr. 11. A. Defter; members of vestry, Messrs. E. W J. Bowden, G. J. Clapham, G. O. Cummanc, J. W. Dee, J. G. Dove, R. C. Grigsby, C. W. Hebblethwaito, W. 11. Brabant, B. Marshall and G. S. Spooner. Mr. Preston Chambers was elected synodsrnan.
