ECCLESIASTES.
Sir, —In regard to the Anzac service held in the Auckland Town Hall lai-t. Thursday, according to the report in tho Herald" tlie lesson was taken from tho 44th chapter of Ecclesiastes, beginning. "Let us now praise famous men." Now I have read my Bible and other older editions, but according to them there are only 12 chapters in Ecclesiastes, so could you tell mo where to find the passage
quoted. Bible Student. [The name of the book was wrongly printed "Ecclesiastes." The _ famous panegyric on the famous dead is found, not in tho canonical book of Ecclesiastes, but in Ecclesiasticus:, otherwise known as "The Wisdom of Jesus the Son of Sirach," which forms part of- thoApocrypha. Ecclesiasticus much resembles the Books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes and is made up chiefly of maxims concerning tho conduct of everyday life, many of them full of cynical shrewdness. It also contains several passages of great force and beauty, that read on Anza;; Day being probably the best known.— Editor, Herald.]
