NEW POST OFFICE.
BUILDING AT NORTHCOTE. A contract has been let, at £1777, to Mr. J. B. Ferguson, of Newton Road, Auckland, for tho erection, in brick, of a post office aii Northcote. Work has been commenced by tho contractor in excavating the site at the corner of Queen Street and Grenville
A sum of £2500 was voted by Parliament last year for a new post office, at Northcote, privately-owned premises having been leased for the purpose hitherto. The duties of postmistress during 37 years have been carried, out bp Mrs. E. A. Lepper, who for some time received £2lO a year as remuneration. The department will, however, appoint a permanent postmaster at Northcote when tho new building is ready for peculations
