PROSPECTING FOR GOLD.
POTE NT lAL !T1 ES 0 F WAIHI. INVESTIGATION BY EXPERTS. , [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] WAIHI, Tuesday. That he thought prospecting for gold in a general way was worthy of greater financial assistance was stated by tha Minister of Mines, Hon. W. A„ Veitch, at a gathering at Waihi this evening.
The Minister said he had been. greatly impressed by a suggestion, that the Waihi field should be most thoroughly tested. One way he had thought of doing this was by commissioning simall parties of proved miners, headed by a reliable geologist who would furnish him with reliable statistics as to the r-esult of their efforts.
However, he had undertaken to set up a commission of experts to inquire into the development of the Waihi field, with a view to proving its potential value, which, in his opinion, only remained to be proved. He intended to do all lie could to provide the wherewithal for tho development ot' the industry of goldmining.
