CREDITS IN ALL ACCOUNTS.
The finances of tka Northcote. borough are on a sound basis. The general account Shows a surplus of revenue over expenditure of £3053; which, however, includes £2783 subsidy on the Queen Street paving work. The amount of outstanding rates is £1279. Street lighting cost £292, the hospital' constribution amounted to £755, street maintenance work absorbed £2368, work on reserves, including football -and cricket grounds cost £551. and the five brigade received £i2s. The ' waterworks maintenance account shows a surplus- o£ £276. ( _ The drainage loan interest account is in ' credit £3OO, and the sanitation account lias a credit o!i £l9. Interest and sinking fund payments in respect to street and other loans, excluding drainage, amounted to £3243. MOUjNfT KOSKILL'IS CREDIT. GOOD PAYMENT OF RATES,, Rates came in so freely during the last' few weeks of the financial year that tha Mount Itoskill Road Board closed its books on March 31 with a credit balance of £2853 in the general account. The receipts amounted to £16,,'590, the principal sources of revenue being general .. rates, £11.919; vehicles,' licenco ' fees, £432: Highways Board subsidy, £448; and Government subsidy, £SOO. Expenditure totalled £13,737, the principal items being salaries and wages, £5709; upkeep of motor vehicles, £1200; and contribution to tho Fire Board. £563..
