On the Bradford tops market there is very little business. Quotations are nominally unchanged. AUSTRALIA'S TRADE SERIOUS DECLINE LAST YEAR. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. SYDNEY, April 30. According to the latest oversea trade bulletin there was a sorious decline in Australia's oversea trade in the past 1 financial year. This decline amounted to £18,698,921 compared with the preceding 12 months. The value of ths country's trade in the past financial year was £291,158,040. There was a considerable improvement in the trade with British countries, which represented 52 per cent, of the total of Australia's trade. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. KEEN CONTINENTAL BUYING. There was keen Continental competition. Groasy Merino sold to 27£ d. BUTTER AND CHEESE PRICES. THE DAIRY BOARD'S REPORT. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated April 26, prices for the previous Leing given in parentheses Butter.—Now Zealand: Salted, 162s to 164s per cwt. (162s to 1645); unsalted, 166s to 168s (166s to 168s); first whey, 152s (1525) ; second whey, 150s (148s). Deliveries of New Zealand this week, 1200 tons; in store, 6800 tons. Australian: Finest salted, 155s to 159s to 160s (156s to 158s) ; unsalted, ICOs to 164s (160s to 1625). Argentine; Finest unsalted, 1565t0 160s (154s to 158s). Irish Creamery : Salted, 160s; unsalted, 1645, Estonian, 158s Latvian, 1565. Siberian, 152s to 154s (1565). Ukranian, 154s to 156s (1545). Polish, 150s to 1152s (1545). CANTERBURY MARKETS. POSITION OF POTATOES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PEESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. There was a disposition for the "prompt" potato market to firm while the heavy rain prevailed early in the week, but the sudden change to good conditions speedily checked the move. Actually prompt potatoes are cheaper, having been purchased U £5 5 and £5 7s 6d, f.0.b., s.i., with Junes at £5 10s. The market for later months is firmer, business having been done at £6 12s 6d for July-September, with sellers asking £6 15ii. The Waipiata's consignment on Saturdlay comprised 2900 sacks, and the Kurow, to-morrow or Thursday, is expected to take only a small allotment. Auckland inquiry at the moment isi practically non-existent. Growers are showing no disposition to sell at current offers. Apart from any likelihood of export to Australia, they are confident of good prices later on. Tho next boat for Sydney with Canterbury onions aboard is now fixed to leave about May 10, and possibly a heavier shipment than was expected will be despatched. Quotations on trucks are £4 10s to £4 15s a ton. A few holders of oats have reduced stocks during the week at 3s s£d a bushel for A's, to 3s 2d for B's, f.0.b., s.i.

Pa.rtridge peas are very weak and 5s 8d f.0.b., S.i., is the extreme of values.

Tho wheat market is unaltered, the amount of buying being small, Tho seeds market is a3 last reported, the buying element being practically nonexistent.

Producers' Board lias received a cablegram from its representative at Buenos ■ Aires, South America, advising the following shipments to tho United Kingdom for the fortnight ended April 25From Argentine and Uruguay.—Chilled beef, 204,900 quarters; frozen.beef, 2675 quarters; frozen mutton, 64,929 carcases; frozen lamb, 77,633 carcases, the quantity shipped to the Continent, of Europe during tho some period was as follows: —Frozen beef, 60,321 quarlors; frozen mutton, 12,700 carcases; frozen lamb, 2093 carcases.
