THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FIRM TONE OF MARKETS. A firm tdne prevailed on tho Auckland Stock Ex'chango yesterday. There was an increase in buyers' offers for Government stocks and local body debentures, and War Loans, 1933, 5£ per cent., were sold 2s 6d dearer at £lOl 7s 6d, - with more wanted at, all calls at the level of the last sale, £lOl ss. In banks tho D mortgage, 20s paid, issue of New Zealands had sale at the current price, 295. Unions of Australia eased Is 6d, with a sale at £ls 9s. Buyers throughout the section were very firm. In coal Grey Valleys continued thoir steady upward movement, a sale being made at 24s 3d, representing a rise of 3d, with more wanted at the price, sellers 24s td. Taupiris, with two sales at 275, also rose 3d. In gas Aucklands firmed Id, being done at 24s sd, at which price more were available, buyers 24s 4d. In timber Kauris rose 6d, selling at 18s 3'd. In the miscellaneous section British Tobaccos made a sale at the current price of 47s 9d; Hay ward's Pictures again sold at 20s 6d, and tho contributing issuo of Now Zealand Rofrigeratings at 7s 3d. New Zealand Farmers' Fertilisers, rose Is, being done at 22s 9d, and New Zealand Paper Mills were fivepcnce firmer with a transaction at 18s lid. In mining Waihis sold twice at 14s Id, tho current rate. PRODUCE AT PUKEKOHE

[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] PUKEKOHE, Tuesday. Potatoes are still offering in the Pukekoho district in considerable quantity at £6 to £6 10s per ton f.o.r. Pukekohe. Onions are quoted at £8 to £9. The demand is very slow iit spite of the fact that tho quality is first-class.
