NOTES FROM WELLINGTON.
THE MARLBOROUGH MEETING [BIT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Concentrate caused his trainer some anxiety last week owing to a poisoned leg. but over the week-end he made a good deal of improvement, and an early recovery is expected. Rabbi was not raced last season as a two-year-old, and this season he starled moderately. He has gradually improved until now he looks like proving a real handicap horse. The only thing against him for winter racing is his size, or lack of it, for he is at present rather small to carry the winter welter-weights. As he appears to,' revel in the mud, this is unfortunate. There has been a good response from owners for the Marlborough meeting, to be opened ou Friday. Black Mint, no doubt, will be favourite for the Waterlea Cup, and in Rabbi and Ronaki ho will find sturdy opposition. Joy Bird has been left in tho Autumn Handicap, and slibuld play a prominent part. Kiriana appears to be well placed in the Opawa Handicap, although a, lighter scale of weights may suit' liim better.
Although Black Mint failed to win at Nelnon, he ran two excellent, races, and should not be long in coming into hie own now . the tracks are soft.'
