FISH MARKET SITE.

EMERGENCY COAL STOCKS.

PROCRESS OF PORT WORKS. The Auckland Harbour Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. H. 11. Mackenzie, presiding. It was resolved, on the recommendation of the board in committee, to approve the arrangement whereby the City Council agrees to accept £2OOO from the board for the surrender of the lease of the fish market site. It was slated that Mr. T. Blood worth's dissent had been recorded on the committee's minutes. One tender was received for the temporary lease for two years of part of the Old Dock Site and was referred to the Finance Committee. The tenderer stated that he proposed to use the area for parking.

The Tamaki Yacht Club made a formal application for a site at Bastion Point for the erection of a clubhouse and skids. The club stated that the sito was the only one available between Orakei wharf and St. Heliers. Although only in its infancy at present the club expected to have a very large membership when the eastern suburbs became more closely settled.

The application was referred to the board-in-committee, the harbourmaster to report. The chairman remarked that he could think of no objection to the proposal. It was only necessary to settle matters of detail.*

At the request of the naval authorities, "in the interests of general tidiness," it was agreed to abolish the emergency dump of 500 tons of coal at the sheerlegs jetty. Calliope Dock, on an undertaking by the Navy to maintain its stocks upon a scale that would enable the board to draw up to 500 tons from them in case of emergency.

The foamite fire engine at Western Wharf was now complete and charged ready for use in the event of oil fires. A new beacon had been erected in a new position on the reef at Point t'hevalier.

It was agreed that a donation of £25, as in former years, be made to the Auckland Sailors' Home.
