COMPENSATION CLAIM.
ACTION AGAINST LOCAL BODY
In the Supreme Court ,Mr. Justice Kennedy, was again occupied all day yesterday with the hearing of the claim by Enos/ S. Pegler (Mr. Meredith) against the Manurewa Town Board (Mr. Johnstone). Mr. Justice Kennedy had associated with him as assessors Messrs. John park and T. D. .Allen.
Plaintiff claimed £SOO compensation for depreciation of his land and £l5O for depreciation of buildings, alleged to be due to alterations made by the Manurewa Town Board to the level of the Great South Road. The plaintiff claimed that the raising of the level of the road had caused flooding on certain of his P 1 ' 0 " pertics, and Jinc! gcucnilly depreciated Inp value of the land. Further evidence in support of the claim was heard, and Mr. Johnstone then Called evidence to show that the plaintiff's property had not suffered injury, but had appreciated in value.• The hearing will be continued this morn-
