POWER FROM ARAPUNI.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. The Minister of Mines, Hon. W. A.; Veitch, visited the Waipa Collieries at, Ngaruawahia this morning. He was accompanied by Mr. A. 11. Kimbell, Under-Secretary of Mines, and Mr. "W. Lee Martin, M.P. Various alterations in the, Workers' Compensation Act were sought by a deputation from the Miners' Union. It was stated that local miners viewed with anxiety the commencement of power transmission from Arapuni shortly, as this would result in the consumption of less slack by the Auckland Electric Power Board.
The minister said lie would give consideration to the representations.
