ATHLETICS AT OXFORD.

EVIDENCES OF REVIVAL. NEW ZEALANDER PROMINENT. [from our own correspondent."] LONDON. March 19. New Zealanders interested in athletics are sure to follow the achievements at Oxford of R. Leigh-Wood, for under his presidency it is remarked that Oxford is on the eve of a great athletic revival. Leigh-Wood's mother, Lady Leigh-Wood, was formerly Miss Turribul!, of Wellington.

In the final heat of the quarter-mile Leigh-Wood got in by 15yds. from C. G. •Cradock-Watson, in 50 l-ss. The winner went away with a rush and opened up a gap of 10yds., and finally broke the tape 15yds. ahead of Cradock-Wilson. He thus gave clear proof that ho is tho greatest quarter-miler in England to-day. In spito of a sodden and heavy track 10 2 5s was returned in both heats of the 100 yds., and H. V. Warren (University of British Columbia and Queen's) has evidently derived great benefit from his tour last year with the Canadian Olympic team. Ift has gained strength, dash and experience, and clearly realises that his distance is tho short sprint. He finished two vards in front of Leigh-Wood in 10 l-ss.
