RIFLE SHOOTING.

AKARANA DEFENCE CLUB. Members of the Akarana Defence Rifle Club fired their filial trophy shoot, of the season for trophies presented by Mr. T. Elliott, sen., the club, and Mr. W. Skcgc, over the ranges of 800 and 900 yard 3 at the Penrose rifle range, under fair conditions Mr. G. G. Ashley's score of 98, two oil tjie possible over (ho long ranges, is a most remarkable performance, especially as over the 900 yds. range he fired in a failing light. Silver spoons and trophy points were won by G. G. Ashley, F. Ellett and H. Snell. The club will conclude its 1928-29 season on Saturday nex't. when the final shoot of the service championship will be tired. Details of the shooting are as follows : Section A (Mr. T.
