COMPENSATION CLAIM.
ACTION AGAINST LOCAL BODY Tho hearing of a claim for £650 compensation in respect to tho alleged depreciation of tho value of land and buildings due to the works of a local body was commenced m tho Supremo Court yesterday before Mr. Justice Kennedy and Messrs. John I'ark and T. D. Allen as assessors. The plaintiff was F.nos S. Pegler (Mr. Meredith) and the defendant tho Manure w a Town Board (Mr. Johnstone). Plainlift' claimed £SOO compensation in respect to tho depreciation of his land and £l5O lor depreciation of buildings, which he contended was due to alterations to the level of Great South Road made by the defendant board. Plaintiff alleged that tho raising of tho level of the road had caused flooding of certain of his properties and generally depreciated the value of the land. Tho Court yesterday morning adjourned to view the property and evidence was heard throughout the afternoon, the case being adjourned until this morning.
