WAGES OF TAILORS.
RATES REMAIN UNALTERED. HOURLY WAGE SYSTEM LIMIT. Wages, the only matter in dispute in tho tailors' award, havo been fixed by (ho Arbitration Court at (hp same rates as thoso named in the previous award filed in 1925. At tho hearing of the disputo on April 19, tho Master Tailors' Association applied for an extension of the hourly wago system but this tho Court thought it wiser not to grant beyond present limits "in view of tho possibility of a detrimental effect, on tho piecework system." Tho award therefore provides for weekly wages and piecework rates with a limited right to employ workers on hourly wages. . The award is to continuo in forco lor two years, from May 13.
