HASTINGS AIR PAGEANT.
AUCKLAND COMPETITORS,
RACE FOR BLUE RIBBON.
LARGE ATTENDANCE OF' PUBLIC.

The Hawke's Bay Aero Club's pageant, held at Hastings yostorday, was attended by 10,000 people. By 11 a.m. seven pilots had arrived and had their machines on the ground, which was in excellent order for landing and taking off.
Major K. Caldwell, of Auckland, and Captain Bloom field did not reach Hastings from New Plymouth until four o'clock, bad weather being experienced on the flight. Other representatives present were:— Captain Bissell, Bristol Fighter; Captain J. F. Findlay, Air Force Moth; Captain Chandler, Marlborough Air Club's Moth; Captain J. C. Mercer, Air Force Moth; Captain K. Hall, Avro-Avian; Mr. J. Smith, Moth; Captain White, Hawke's Bay Aero Club's Moth; Captain Mercer was accompanied by Mr. Climie, president of tho Canterbury Aero Club, and Captain Hall wa3 accompanied by Mr. H. J. Wilson, representing the Auckland Aero Club.
Tho pageant programme included a New Zeafand light plane blue ribbon race of 25 miles for a cup presented by Mrs. W. G. Stead, an all-transport race, for a cup given by Mrs. W. Richmond, a show race, for a cup given by Mrs. S. I. McKee, and a bombing competition for a watch presented by Mr. T. Mason Chambers. Tho result of-the blue ribbon was:— Captain White, 1; Major Caldwell, 2; Mr. J. Smith, 3.
