ATHENIAN CLUB.

Tho Auckland Athenian Club commenced its 1929 season on Saturday night at tho clubrooms in Grafton Road. There was a largo number of members present, and tho evening was an immense success. Tho hall had been redecorated, and with tho colourings of tho fresh arrangements and tho attractive dresses of tho ladies a bright sceno was presented. The club followed its customary procedure for its opening night and the entertainment for the members and visitors was provided by the committee. Tho artists contributing to the programme of tiio evening were:—Mrs. Hobday, Mrs. A. Koven, Miss A. Perry, Miss Crosher. Miss Laura Walker, Miss Ida Walker, and Sergeant-Major llanralia 11.
