FORMAL RECOGNITION. HOPES FOR FRIENDSHIP. British Wireless. RUGBY, April 26* The Government of Persia yesterday accorded recognition to Irak. This development was officially announced in a cordial message transmitted from the Prime Minister of Persia, Mehdi Hedayat J to the Prime Minister of Irak, Abdul al Sa'dun, expressing a desire that their relations will be founded on strong, sincere friendship and common interests, and that matters pending will be settled by mutual goodwill. The Persian colony in England yesterday celebrated the anniversary of the coronation of the Shah Reza Pahlevi. In the evening the Persian Minister, llovhannes Mossed, held a reception which was largely attended by foreign friends of Persia.

The Manchester Guardian commenting on the anniversary says: The forward movement in Persia is being watched with much satisfaction by Britain, who is particularly pleased at the last develop, ment in the direction of the recognition by Persia of Irak.
