WASHED UP ON BEACH.
WOMAN'S BODY FOUND, [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. I CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The body of Annie Smith, a singly''* woman, of about 45 years of age, residing with her mother at 10, Hawke Street, New Brighton, was . washed up on the .New Brighton beach two chains north of Lonsdale Street at 10.30 this morning. Iho body, which was fully clothed, had evidently not been long in the water. 'lho woman's hat was washed up some yards from the spot where the body was found. Miss Smith was until recently in tho servico of Mr. 11. F. Stevens, of Page's Road, where she had been for a number o : \ years. She left home about nine o'clock this morning to go to the city. The inquest was opened this afteruocc and adjourned.
