[BY TELEGRAPH.—OTTN CORRESPONDENT. 1 CHRISTCHTECH, Saturday. The New Zealand Sapling Stakes will be run at the June meeting of the ABhburl.on Trotting Club and the two-year-old classic is attracting a good deal of attention. Already a couple of smart t.wo-ye3r-olds have made their aprearance. Ngingo Ngingo winning at Cheviot, -while Purser was successful at Ashburton. where he won the Improvers' Handicap. The "Wrack—Xell Pointer youngster in C. S. Donald's stable is highly spoken of and J. Washington has -a smart pacer in the Rey de Oro—Letitia two-year-old. No doubt before the classic event is decided other two-year-olds will be produced. The Ashburton classic looks like being full of interest this season.
Bonnie Belnont has not been pleasing hia trainer. J. «T. Kennerley, of late. The Aastralian-bred trotter showed fair form soon af'er Lis arrival here, but he hag let his connections down m hiß recent efforts. His trainer, however, has a way of eventually curing bolh trotters and pacers 01 faults and no doubt before he is finished with Bonnie Belmont he w: il have him groins ill his best style. The two-year-old filly by Drusus from Doraldina in H. Frost's stable ia slowly recovering from her mishap. She was shutting particularly well 111 her work and it is unfortunate she has had to be eased up.
Kelp was a trifle sore when he raced at Ashburton, which may have accounted- for his dej'cat in the Improvers' Handicap, in which he finished second 10 Purser. Kelp is now harijis a short spell. Golden Ore is a rery lightly-built Pacer, but he can muEt-cr np a good deal of speed, and ho ii a capital stayer. He has been workins <t Addincton of late under the charge of .T. Fi riser. The troller Count Dee is at present out of work. He does not. seem to stand much training.
Kreisler looks particular!? well at present. Ho is doing plenty of useful training work und be can be expected i>o race well in tlie near future.
Linsrneld, who bus raced well of late over short and lons continues to do good work ill tramine. Bonnie Locanda and Hey Child are recent, additions to J. Davidson's stable at Addingt.on. The Southland-bred mare Demy Bells has ■been ior some time in E. C. McDennott's stable, but she does not seem to have made much improvement, iudsed by *er training work. It is more than likely she will not return here after being raced at the Forbury Park Club's meeting nest month. Young Blake, who has not been lone in work, lonks very well and is troti-insr in his usual attractive manner in trainmc.
