CANADIAN EGGS.

Sir, —Once again we arc confronted with the importation of Canadian and though they havo not passed througn the auction marts it seems- as though they havo had an effect on the price of local eggs. Of course, this may seem all right for the consumer, but it certainly is rather hard on the poultrykeeper, who has passed through months when eggs barely realised enough to pay feed bills. No doubt there are many other young fellows like myself trying to build up a poultry connection and this class of thing makes the struggle all the harder. Seeing the Ward party were so keen last November to do all they could for the small holder* I think now is a good timo for them to come to tho assistance of the growing poultry industry,, an industry with big export possibilities if it is not retarded periodically with importations, etc. Of course I realise the Government cannot pass legislation to prevent a firm importing eggs, but if wo have to have Canadian competition let us also havo Canadian and Australian wheat and maize duty free, and then wo shall havo something like equal conditions. White Leguohn.
