OBITUARY.

MIIS. J. J. CUNNING. A resident of Newmarket for over 48 years, Mrs. J. .7. Gunning, died at her lato residence, 5, Short Street, Newmarket, yesterday. She, was born at Ho wick 75 years ago. Her father, the late Mr. William llunie, caino to Auckland in tho ship Juno Gilford and carried on business for many years as a builder in Newmarket and Parnell. Mrs. Gunning's mother arrived at Auckland with her parents in the ship Duchess of Argylo. Mrs. Gunning was married at Thames to Mr. Joseph J. Gunning, who, for tho last 25 years, has carried on business in Newmarket. Mrs. Gunning is survived by her husband, three sons and three daughters. Tho daughters are Mrs. D. S. Donaldson, Mrs. A. Fraggatt and Mrs. It. Anderson, all of Newmarket, and the sons are- Mr. A. Gunning, of Mount Albert, Mr. L. Gunning, of Kingsland, and Mr. W. F. Gunning, of Tauniarunui. There are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchil-dren.

Ho was 65 years of age. He leaves six sons, Messrs. Sydney. H. G., H.E., Mark, Geoffrey and Guy Nicholls. and two daughters, Mrs. Lecomto and Miss Dulcio Nicholls, a wellknown tennis player.
