LONG CYCLE JOURNEY.
AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON. GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 WELLINGTON, Friday. Reports received privately in Wellington show that the Wellington cyclist, S. Wright, who is making an attempt to lower tho present record of 65 hours for the journey from Auckland to Wellington, is making good progress. The messages state the roads have been bad and Wright has encountered head winds. Howevci, lie is reported in one telegram lo be "as fit as a liddle."
Starting at 8 a.m. Wright passed through lluntly at mid-day yesterday and reached Hamilton after live and a-hulf hours' riding. He rested at Awakino, leaving there ai i? o'clock this morning for Wangatiui. Wright left Hawera at 4.10 p.m., stating he would endeavour to reach Bulls, another 86 miles south, boforc taking his second sleep on the journey. The attempt on the record bv Wright i.i the first to be made by a Wellington cyclist and it is under official control. Wright should arrive in Wellington about mid-day to-morrow, or perhaps a little earlier.
