OLD BONES UNEARTHED
MELBOURNE PRISON SITE. WORKERS GIVEN MORE PAY.
MELBOURNE. April 19. A novel strike occurred to-day, when builders' labourers on the old Mel bourn a prison site, where excavations continue, unearthed the remains of executed criminals. They left their work, demanding,. 30s a day, and that an undertaker should remove the bones. These terms were agreed to. Over 20 skeletons have been dug op. Most of the graves were despoiled by souvenir-hunters.
