"CHEERIO SCRAP-BOOKS."

Interest in our monthly " Cheerio Scrapbook " competition is being maintained ill a remarkably encouraging way, and each month this year about thirty beautiful scrap-books have brought joy to the littlo patients at King George V. Hospital, Rotorua. Some of our most, enthusiastic members have sent in books month after month, showing an interest and zeal that can spring only from generous and sympathetic hearts. The matron of the hospital has been moro than delighted to receive so many books, but she thinks, and I think too, that it would be onlv fair now King George V. Hospital has received about ICO of these beautiful books, to give some other little sick children the same pleasure. I had a talk with Dr. Maguire, medical superintendent of Auckland Hospital, and dear friend of all the little folk m Princess Mary Children's Hospital, and be was delighted when I said I was'going to ask our boys and girls to send their next lot of " Cheerios " to his littlo patients. There are about 100 boys and girls of, all ages, from the tiniest tots, up to six'teen years of age. 101 l them to send in as many scrap-books as they like—wo shall b'e delighted to get them, for it is often hard to keep the little folk interested and happy when they are sick," said tho doctor. So now, dear boys and girls, carry on in the true il Cheerio " spirit, and let the 1 i 111 © patients at Princess Mary share the pleasuro you have brought to those at, King George V. ! Note new addi'ess for April " Cheerios: Miss Fenton, Ward 20, Princess Mary Children's Hospital, Auckland. Mis's Fenton is the teacher at the Princess Mary school —some time I must tell you all about that hospital school, whero convalescent boy and girls can go on with their studies—and she, too, was delighted to hear her little charges weiv to share the friendly interest of "Boys and Girls." For the benefit of new members, I must explain that the " Cheerio Scrap-books " are mado up of pictures, coloured if possible, from our weekly " Boys and Girls, page, short stories, jokes, and other interesting items. They are best made 011 tho loose-leaf plan, that, is, with the pages punched and tied together with cord and ribbon, so that you can add the pages week by week as you get them finished.

All books for tho April competition should reach Princess Mary Hospital about tho first week in May, giving you time to include our last April page Handsome book prizes, consolation prizes, and gold and silver star awards are given for the best entries from boys and girls from twelve to sixteen, and those under twelve.
