Ihfi Auckland Chess Club held its 45th Bnnual meeting on Thursday evening, the President, Mr. 11. 11. Smith, presiding. The official opening of the season was fixed for Saturday, May A, when a lighting tourney will'be held. The following officers were elected: — jP&tron, Mr. J. 0. Grierson; president, Mr. Barker; vice-presidents, Rev. F. R. Jeffreys and Mr. J. F. Sullivan; hon. secretary, Mri G. E. Adams; assistant secretary, Mr. C. G. Lennard; hon. treasurer, Mr. F. Stubbs; director of play, £' r - R. Barker; committee, Messrs. G. 0. H. Edwards, W. Kelly and 11. fioskilly. Tho following pli7.es were presented jr'' u » champion and gold medal, J. A. *°ir; second prize, D. I. Jones. Intermediate level, 11. Lees, 1; J. F. Sullivan * nd A. Miller. 2. Minor level, R. Drott. G. H. Edwards, 2. A consolation prize was awardfd to R. Pntmari.
