TE AKOHA CLUB'S MEETING

GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED. Tho Te Aroha Trotting Club holds its annual race meeting today. With strong fields engaged in tho eight events forming tho programme there is material for a capital day's sport, and given fine weather a large attendance may bo Bafely anticipated. Tho following is the list of acceptances for the various events:—

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. 1 TE AROHA. Friday. There is a large field in the Waifoa Handicap, and it; is a very open race. Belle Axworthy. Zealous, Horoto and Lord Lu may le best of the limit division, although Great Parrish is a most promising young pacer. Gold Treasure and Benefice have recent form to recommend them, while Vanity Boy and Lord Haldane are nicely placed in the class. Fancies' are likely to take a wide range, and there may be strong support for Vanity Boy, Benefic eand Gold Treasure. A moderate crowd of trotters will contest the Elstow Handicap and most of them are very unreliable. Nelson Girl is improver and should make a showing off the limit. D:in Zolock and Roez will he difficult to beat if they go right. Direction may be best of (he others. Nelson Girl, Don Zolock and Roez may be best supported. Another large field is carded for the Manawaru Handicap, and hero again the issue is very open. There arc many with chances and the wagering should take a wide rango Rolfe Audubon may be favourite, with Nelson Dillon and Bell Dial also in demand. The To Aroha Trotting Cup promises to be a very interesting contest. Great refer is nicely placed to mnko amends for his failuro at Hawera, and others whoso prospects appear good are Medusa, Daytime, Hal Chimes and Tony Victor. Most o ( those engaged in the Ruakaka Handicap are likely to run earlier in the day, and there may be some form to givo a guido to the prospects when the event comes up for decision. Gaza, Lord Lit and Zealous read nicely placed, and may have strong followings. There is another large field in the Spring Handicap, and hwo again there may be somo form to furnish a lino on the prosper ?, becauso most of the candidates are likely to run in previous events. Vanity Boy, Enawah and Haerenga Gai aro possibilities, and may bo among the popular selections. Form in the Elstow Handicap may havo an effect- on the betting on the Waihou Handicap, as the fields are practically tho same in both events. Direct Action, Wild Nut and Anseline aro nicely placed and may command 6trong support. There are somo smart pacers in tho Farewell Handicap, and it iB sure to be a solid betting raco. Scandal, Ca.vmel and Dad's Hopo aro likoly to prove very troublesomo, and may be heavily backed.

NOTES BY PICADOR, Mr. John Rowe, president of the Auckland Trotting Club, celebrates his 75th birthday to-morrow, and it goes without saying that he will be> tho recipient of many warm congratulations, for apart from the prominent part ho has played in fostering the branch of sport with which he is most intimately connected, he has fulfilled tho duties of a citizen in a manner that has earned him wide respect.
