OBITUARY.
MR. JAMES BELL. Tho death occurred at Howick yesterday of Mr. James Bell, aged 66. Born in Perthshire, Scotland, Mr. Bch came to New Zealand with his parents in the sailing ship Maori in 1868. With tho exception of five years in business at Stratford, Mr. Bell spent his life in farming in the Pakuranga district. For a. number of years lie was superintendent of tho Howick Presbyterian Church Sunday School, retiring in 1898 owing to illhealth. For tho past 48 years ho was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. Mr. Bell was a bachelor. MR. JAMES SIN DEN. [BY TELEtiKAI'H. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Friday A former prominent resident of Pirongia for many years, Mr. James Sinden, died at Hamilton this week, aged 76. Mr. Sinden was born in the Hokianga district but came to tho Waikato over 40 years ago, where his ability ns a blacksmith and veterinarian was well known. In later years ho farmed a considerable area on the Pirongia-Kawhia road, and on retirement lived at Kawhia. About a year ago ho returned to live with a married daughter at Pirongia.
