PIAKO COUNTY HIGHWAYS.
INSPECTION BY ENGINEERS. MORRINSVILLE TO TE AROHA. [BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.! MOIIRINSVILLE, Friday. Mr. A. D. Tindall, chief engineer of the Main Highways Board, and Mr. Hall jones, resident engineer of the Public Works Department, made an inspection of the main Piako County highways on Thursday. Both officials expressed pleasure at Ihe high standard of maintenance disclosed.
An assurance was given that subsidy moneys would bo made available to enable the bitumen surfacing of the Kiwitahi Highway to be finished. The engineers held a long conference with Mr. B. H. Horner, county engineer, with reference to the maintenance of the main Morrinsville-Tc Aroha highway, and a proposal was made which will remove any difficulties in financing a tar-sealed surface. The county chairman, Mr. W. R. Lowry, stated that the means of financing the proposal will enable (he whole of this highway to be bitumenised nex( summer.
