NEW COUNTY CHAMBERS.

PROPOSAL" AT WHANGAREI. LOAN OF £9500 REQUIRED. [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Friday. A scheme for the erection of new county chambers and the remodelling of the present chambers was approved by the Whangarci County Council to-day, and a proposal to raiso a loan of £9500 will be submitted to the ratepayers. The council considers that tho present property, adjoining the Whangarci Post Office, is too valuable for county chambers. Tho proposals submitted by a committee provided for the remodelling of the present chambers for the purpose of letting them for commercial purposes, and the erection of county chambers in Rose Street on portion of a block of land acquired by tho council about four years ago. The scheme has been sanctioned by tho Local Government Loans Board. The proposed loan of £9500 is allocated as fol-lows-.—Remodel ling present chambers, £3625; erection of new building, £5725; office furnishings, £l5O. Sketch plans have been prepared by an Auckland firm of architects. The council approved the scheme, and a committee was set up to address ratepayers in each riding before polling day.
