THE WEEK'S TRANSACTIONS. COMPARISON OF RETURNS. Following is a summary of transactions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges since Iho resumption of business on Monday. The main recommendations in the report of tho Oversea Shipping Conference are that tho cost of transport should no longer be increased bv special taxes, that, when shipping profits are made they should bo taxed once, and once only, namely, in the country of residence of I lie Shipping Company; and that there should be no legislative bar to the making of agreements for tho carriage of produce; also, that rates of freights should be determined in (he country of origin of cargoes. Tho report suggests, as a means of meeting shipowners' losses, that there should be a. 7 per cent. increase in freights to Australia. That would vicld £300.000. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. The demand runs principally on light-weights.
