In local body debentures Auckland Eire Boards. 1939, 6 per cent., had the second sale of the week at £lO3 10s. In commercial debentures New Zealand Breweries could be had one penny cheaper at 26s sd, but. offers stayed a,t 26s 3d. The banking section was unusually active. Adelaides recorded the first salo of the year fit £lO 0s 6d, against £lO in December. An easing tendency was shown in Australasias, which changed hands at £l4 14s, a decline of 4s on the price given a fortnight ago. Commercial of Australia appreciated ono penny on the pro-vacation level, to sell at 29s 9d, with more available at that figure. The preference issue changed hands at £7 9s, against £7 8s at the preceding sale in November. The recent advance in New South Wales was sustained with another salo at £5 2s 6d. New Zealands were done at 62s 3d, which is also the ruling rale. In insurance Australian Provincials were again eagerly sought, and late offers were made at 8s 9d, an advance of sixpence on tho previous day's bidding, but holders wanted 10s. South British had sale at 665, tho market price. In gas Aucklands, contributing, changed hands at 18s 3d, the first sale of the week Tho prico corresponds with that given before the vacation. In shipping Northerns were done at 15s, tho current ''ate, at tho first and second calls. In timber Kauris registered the first, sale for two months, but tho price paid, 17s <#d, was tho same. In miscellaneous Farmers' Trading had salo at 8s 4d, against 8s 8d at the preceding sale six weeks ago. The ordinary issue of Sanfords, done earlier in the week at 17s 3d and 17s 9d, advanced to sell at 18s 3d and 18s 6d. Taranaki Oils, which have been in fair request throughout the week, wero done at 5s 2d, which corresponds with the average of recent business. Wilsons Cements wero sought at up to 41s, the recently improved rate, but holders wanted 41s 3d. In mining Alburnias changed hands at Is lOd, the'same figure as that given oil Thursday.
