CREATION BY EVOLUTION.
Sir, —In reply to Dr. North, "A.E.C." remarks that a "theistic complexion" of evolution "finds no placo in scientific studies of evolution." "A.E.C." concludes his letter by referring the Rev. A. A. Murray to "the latest masterly compendium," a book entitled, "Creation by Evolution," written by 24 of "the world's foremost authorities." One of tho contributors, Dr. Hackett Newman, writes as follows: —"Evolution no more takes God out of tho universe than does gravitation. Both these great principles are mere manifestations of the grand strategy of Nature. They indicato tho methods used by the ruling power back of the universe. The theory of evolution, as has often been said, does not deny creation; it merely explains the method of creation." It is fair to assume that this is the opinion o{ tho majority of the contributors to tho book in view of the fact that its title is "Creation by Evolution." Norman* Burton.
