MARRIAGE OF WOMEN.
LAW OF NATIONALITY. AMENDING BILL IN COMMONS. Australian l'resa Association. —United Service LONDON, March 6. In the House of Commons to-day Miss Ellen Wilkinson, Labour member for East Middlesborough, introduced a bill to amend the law affecting the status of married women by providing that a British woman who marries a foreigner shall not lose her nationality unless she wishes, and that a foreign woman who marries a British subject shall acquire British nationality if she so desires. The bill is retrospective in the former case, but not in the latter. The women's organisations in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa favour the bill, which was read a first time.
