WESTERN SUBURBS TRANSPORT.
Sir, —At a meeting of the local bodies of the western districts, Mr. Titchener, chairman of the New Lynn Board, is reported to have said that "it was ridiculous for the Transport Board to suggest that private enterprise should be allowed to operate only between Henderson and tho Whau Creek at Avondale. The district concerned desired to have buses running right through to the city." If this statement represents the knowledge of the proposal possessed by Mr. Titchener and is a sample of his grasp of the transport problem as a whole, then I suggest that the public shall pause before accepting tha', gentleman as an authority on these matters. The report of the proposal as I read it was not a suggesioi for a "feeder bus" service, but a through service to the city from these districts. Confirmation of this reading of the report has been obtained from the secretary of the Transport Board This being so, why all the fuss on the part of Mr. Titchener ? Fair Criticism.
