CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOLS.
Tho Auckland Education Board met yesterday, tho chairman, Mr. A. Burns, presiding. Reporting . recent amendments relating to attendance and grading of schools, the Education Department notified that it had been decided that tho averages for the September and December quarters of 1928 wore to replace tho averages for tho last two terms of tho same year for the purpose of adjusting staffs at tho beginning of 1929. Tho avorago for tho December quarter was to replace tho average for tho third term of 1928 for purposes of adjusting staffs at tho end of tho first terra in 1929. A petition from residents of the Kirikopuni, Tangiteroria, Mapuna and Pekapekarau districts, urging tho consolidation of schools, was referred to tho advisory inspector. The inspector was also asked to report on. the suggested consolidation of tho Muriwai and Wainiauku school*.
